A wise leader knows better than to take ANYTHING at face value.

Take studies of employee engagement, for instance. A savvy leader asks, Who is doing the study? What parameters did they use to measure? Are the companies studied well-regarded by employees who have been there a long time, or just the new ones? Related to the last question, How is voluntary employee turnover at the firm? Were former employees included in the study?

Be careful whose advice you take, and whose study or statistic you believe. Always. Question. Everything.
